Wildfire Safety

The Utah State Fire Marshal’s Office works with The Utah Department of Natural Resources and the Division of Forestry, Fire and Lands to help keep our natural areas as safe as possible from fires.

Comprehensive safety information can be found here:

Wildfire is a natural part of Utah’s ecosystems, but the development within and around wildlands over the last decade or two has posed challenges for wildfire and safety officials.

In 2005, Utah identified almost 600 communities and their surrounding areas as “at risk” for wildland fire.

If your home is near or in wildland areas such as firest, brush, and grass, there are many ways you can mitigate dangers and protect your property. Not only can you take action individually, but communities can work together under a Community Fire Plan.
